Susan Barshop is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Play Therapist, and Certified School Counselor. She holds master’s degrees in both counseling and early childhood education and has experience in school-related issues, divorce issues, trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression.
She has worked in the public school system as a teacher and elementary and middle school counselor for 30 years, and in outpatient private practice for over 40 years. She is passionate about helping people of all ages and backgrounds.
Susan utilizes a variety of counseling theories including Child-Centered Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. She believes that building a positive therapeutic relationship with her clients is the foundation for potential growth, change, and overall mental-emotional wellness.
Susan is married and moved to Georgetown from North Dallas. She enjoys ballet and tap dancing, gardening, doll collecting, quilting, and spending time with her family and friends.
