Karen McKenzie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in working with children and adolescents. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Texas A&M Central Texas and a Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas.

Previously, Karen has worked with Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health at Fort Hood, and also as a liaison for soldiers processing between the Department of Defense into the VA. She has extensive experience in the education system as a Special Programs Counselor, providing counseling and education for children and parents, collaborating with school staff for the best interest of the child, and addressing behavioral problems in the school setting. In addition, she spent time in a behavioral health medical setting, addressing issues such as ADHD, ODD, depression, anxiety, and trauma, and she also worked for the University of Kentucky Behavioral Health Research Team in Domestic Violence, providing education in the prison systems for drug use and abuse.

Karen utilizes therapeutic techniques according to the need, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, and Strengths Based Practice. She believes in empathy and building connections as part of the healing process.

Karen is a mother and grandmother. She is passionate about her family and friends, enjoys opportunities to learn, and spends her free time hiking and enjoying the outdoors.
