Cammi has Master’s degrees in Marriage and Family Counseling and Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Fort Worth, Texas, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Development from the University of Georgia.
Cammi Owens is a Licensed Professional Counselor, passionate about helping individuals and families find healing, and experience a functional and fulfilled life. She works with adolescents, women, couples and families, and has experience working with individuals and groups in a variety of settings, including private practice, church, school and residential treatment facilities.
Cammi has extensive experience working with adolescents, youth, and their families.
While on church staff, Cammi implemented and led a Celebrate Recovery program for teenagers called Life Hurts, God Heals. This is a pre-covery program for students dealing with difficult life circumstances, including issues related to a parent’s addiction. She continued her work with students as the School Counselor at a private Christian school in Georgia, helping them deal with social, familial, behavioral, and personal problems.
She has specific experience dealing with issues related to self-esteem, body image, anxiety, depression, spiritual issues, suicide, self-harm, issues related to same sex attraction, adjustment problems, relationship and communication issues.
Cammi also has special interest in counseling women and couples dealing with infertility, and/or adoption issues. Not only has she experienced infertility and adoption firsthand, she spent two years writing homestudies for prospective adoptive parents, where she learned even more about the unique and arduous journey of adoption.
Cammi utilizes a variety of theories in the counseling session, including the family systems model, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and a client-centered, solution-focused approach. She is a certified PREPARE/ENRICH pre-marital counselor, and trained to administer the Taylor/Johnson Temperament analysis. She counsels from a biblical worldview, and is comfortable counseling individuals from any faith.
Outside of the office, Cammi enjoys spending time with her husband and son. They love taking family walks, reading together and traveling. Her family owned an Italian restaurant for 33 years, so she loves to cook, but is not a very good baker! Her favorite thing is to have her friends and family around the table together.
